Upper Iowa Weekend
Bobby and I drove up to Cresco, Iowa Friday night. Cresco is in Winnesheik County, on the Minnesota border and one county over from the Mississippi. We got up early Saturday, had a farm breakfast at the Suzie Q diner in Cresco, and were on the river by 8:30. We saw a bald eagle fly over us by 9:00, and we ended up having a huge day. So many pictures, it will take more than one post.
Bobby had never been canoeing before, but he was game.
The "chimney rocks" along the river make for spectacular scenery, especially on a sunny day with the leaves turning.

Cattle has the right of way on the river. We stopped for about 15 minutes to let them cross.
We camped out Saturday night. Details to follow!

Nice photos.
I haven't been canoeing in some time. We tried once here, but my companions were NOT into it.
I am very envious of your trip. Looks like you had good weather to boot. Looking forward to the next batch.

LOL - Everybody just turned and stared at me, mouths agape. My "stern mother" persona had kicked in and nobody had ever seen that side of me before.
What would you do if some friend-but-knucklehead stood up in the centre of a full canoe in the middle of the river?
Poor Jeff - I wonder what ever happened to him.
