Valley Marchmasters invade C.R.

Last weekend Dan's marching band played in two competitions in Cedar Rapids. Vickie chaperoned and got the best pictures of Dan in uniform so far.


I'm not sure how Dan achieved the illusion of having only one leg here.




Bobby and I drive up to Cresco tonight; tomorrow we will canoe the mighty Upper Iowa river between Kendallville and Bluffton. I did that route with Dan when he was about Bobby's age; it's gorgeous. Will motel it tonight and tent camp Saturday night.

Other big news: Dan and the Valley High School Orchestra will be participating in an Orchestra festival in New York City next June, and they'll play in Carnegie Hall. That is very cool. They had been slated to travel to China, but that fell through, but Carnegie Hall is a pretty good deal.
