Fort Pella

I got to sleep indoors this weekend. Last weekend was a different story, as the Webelos roughed it at Camp Mitigwa's Fort Pella.

This thing has no roof, but it does shelter you from the wind. We set our tents up inside the protective walls, and no Indian attacks were reported.

Brownies, however, were sighted. I never had seen the tinfoil-lined box outdoor oven work before, but it does work, if you are very patient. The brownies were judged yummy.

It wasn't all food. The scouts tested their mettle on this rope bridge.

At the end of the cold day - it was windy, and it may have gotten as warm as 40 - the campfire was the place to be. After the scouts played a vigorous round of Capture the Flag, we got snug in our sleeping bags and slept great, except briefly when Rob and his tentmate started chatting at 4:00 am. A great experience, but I'm content to sleep indoors the rest of the year.
