Baby animals!
One of the newest buildings at the Iowa State Fairgrounds is the Paul Knapp building. It's pretty much a baby animal showcase. You can watch piglets and calves being delivered, and you can see lots of baby animals.
You can see freshly-hatched chicks...

...and chicks freshly hatching.

And even an ostrich chick, looking rather out of place somehow:

They also had an operating theater where they were neutering a dog, but we didn't stick around for that. All in all, a fun novelty for us city folk.
CORRECTION: Those are sheep up there, not cows. I really CAN tell the difference. Maybe I should stop blogging before that first cup of coffee.

Cute!
I would have headed straight for this building. Lots of interesting (and adorable) stuff going on there. Is it the same building where the bee exhibitions were housed?
