DAN IS UNWELL

Poor Dan. He feels crummy. He has a fever and some sort of virus, so he missed school today - something Dan rarely does. He hopes to be better tomorrow, as the Marchmasters are supposed to march at halftime tomorrow (yes, a Thursday football game. It's not right).

Not much excitement in my world today. I took a quiz, and I'm going to brag:

I outscored the Harvard kids!

The overall average score for the approximately 7,000 seniors who took the American civic literacy exam was 54.2%, an “F.” That is consistent with the overall average of 53.2% posted by seniors last year. Not one college surveyed can boast that its seniors scored, on average, even a “C” in American civic knowledge.

Harvard seniors scored highest, but their overall average was 69.6%, a “D+.” That is almost identical to the 69.7% earned by Harvard seniors last year. Yale and Princeton seniors averaged only 65.9% and 61.9%, respectively. At 18 colleges, the average senior scored less than 50%.

But I shouldn't get a big head, or Peggy and Retta will post 100% scores on me.

I am sorry to hear that Dan is ill. Poor guy.

As for that quiz- I know a sucker bet, or a sucker bait when I see it. You are the history quiz king. Plus, it's 60 questions... whine.

I hope I get a minute to blog soon. I barely get to read any even these days.

I'm so sorry that Dan isn't well. The timing is about right though. Roughly two weeks after classes begin (the incubation period) somebody in our family will come down with something. I blame all those infected little monsters with whom our children attend school.

As for the quiz - I'll get to it after work. I don't hold out much hope though. What, did you only miss one question?

Peggy - You still are much better than the Harvard graduates. I missed 39, not 34.

Dan - this gives us lots of opportunity for quality time together!!! (Dan flees...)
