Volcano King

Vickie is back! And now we just return to the school routine. But first, we have labor day weekend. Judging from the light lunch crowds downtown yesterday, it is really a five day Carnival of Labor...

It looks like we will have delightful weather all weekend, sunny with highs in the 70s or low 80s. Maybe Bobby and I can get out on the bikes this weekend. Last weekend we found this new climbing wall in Holiday Park:

Bobby has let it be known to his teacher that henceforth he is to be "Rob" at school. He assures us that it is still ok to call him Bobby at home.

When Dan was in preschool, he "changed his name" from Daniel, and was from that day forward "Dan." I think it is harder to change as you get older, but 4th grade isn't that old.

I am glad to hear that Vickie is home.

Rob, eh? It is a good name. Jay has taken to calling himself John at swim lessons. I am just afraid that he will be doomed to "Little John" if he goes that route.

I hope Dorothy's hospital visit went okay. Poor gal has been through the mill this summer. I'm glad you've got Vickie back.

I think Rob is a nice variant of Robert. He must think that he has grown out of Bobby.

I have a cousin Bobby, he's older than I am. I don't know if he goes by Bob or Robert in his adult life, but we all still call him Bobby. It is a sort of "I knew you when" name that only a few can use.

When Bobby and I made the road trip back to my childhood haunts in April, I ran into some people who still call me "Joey." Bobby thought that was a hoot.
