Cello Fellow
Fairmeadows School starts its orchestra program in 4th grade. That means Bobby gets to start this year. It also means Mom and Dad get to go to the "new" orchestra parent meetings again, after a seven-year break. We will get one instrument with our child's lesson, in the vain hope that we will remember enough to help Bobby with his technique. If I remember more than the correct end to hold the bow, it will be a triumph.
Bobby chose the noble cello as his instrument.

No, the amp isn't for the cello, though Bobby would like that.
While Vickie was in the frozen northland this weekend, we went and rented Bobby's instrument. Dan came along, as he is now looking to upgrade from his rented double bass to a purchase, and he provided moral support.
Bobby spent a lot of time this weekend playing with the cello, and he already gets a decent tone out of it. It will be fun to watch him progress.
Vickie returned safely. We met them up at Hickory Park in Ames on their way south for dinner and ice cream. Hickory Park has the best ice cream menu in the world. I had a peanut butter sundae - chocolate and vanilla ice cream with peanut butter sauce, whipped cream and a cherry. No calories, I'm sure!
