Scotland on the plains

Vickie and I had dinner at the Royal Mile, a downtown Des Moines bar/restaurant that tries to duplicate an English or Scottish pub. I had shepards pie, which is a stew covered by a 3-inch thick layer of mashed potatoes; Vickie had fish and chips. I had a Guiness stout on tap. Yummy.

Here is a magnificent Glasgow library to commemorate our dinner (via Marginal Revolution).

Hi, Peggy - have you been here?

It's like all those people who live in Florida and don't go to Disneyworld. I know about the Glasgow library, know who designed it etc. . . . but never actually set foot in it. I have however been in the Lockerbie and Dumfries libraries countless times.

When you guys come to visit, we can go there if you'd like.
