Bridge out.

Unbelievable.

I've driven across the bridge dozens of times; Vickie, who grew up in the Cities, hundreds. I always took it for granted; in heavy traffic you're barely aware you are on a bridge, because you have to pay attention to other things.

Imagine what it was like going 60 on your way home and all of a sudden, the bridge is falling under you. Or you're rolling up to the bridge, and suddenly there's no traffic in front of you. Oh, and no road.

Don and Dorothy were to have driven to Northern Minnesota this week, but Don ended up in a hospital with an infection. They would have driven across that span.

I'm glad I'm not having to commute up there today. What a nightmare that will be. And I'm glad I don't cross a river on the way to work...

It is totally unbelievable.

I am hoping to hear an old friend that he wasn't on the bridge. I had no idea Don and Dorothy were there.

I have always been phobic about bridges.

Don is hospitalized here, not there. They never got started on the trip.

I spent my freshman year in high school at DeLaSalle HS just up river from where this bridge went down.

It could have been a lot worse but then, it could have been prevented too. I wouldn't knowingly drive on a bridge that is bordering on unsafe. I just assume that somebody takes care of that stuff.
