Go Cubs!

Last night was the Sertoma Club Fantasy Baseball Camp night at the ballpark. My lunch club works with the Iowa Cubs to run a week-long baseball skills camp for deaf and hard-of-hearing kids. The camp includes an Iowa Cubs game for the kids and their families. The I-Cubs are the AAA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, which means the players are one notch below "big leagues."

I used my four tickets to take Dan, Heather and Bobby to the game.

We had good seats behind home plate. With the State Capitol in the background, the park has a great view over the center field fence.

The mighty I-Cubs won, 9-3. The Chicago Cubs "closer," Ryan Dempster, was in Iowa to pitch as part of an injury rehab stint, and he struck out three in the ninth while yielding two harmless singles. He is expected to return to Chicago today. Dan hoisted Bobby on his shoulders in celebration:

Go Cubs!
