Whereabouts

So far this hasn't been a good week.

Monday I learned that my best business friend died suddenly at 55 from a massive heart attack while jogging. Tuesday I went to a client funeral and then got on the road to Bettendorf for my friend's visitation, and I stayed overnight there for the funeral service Wednesday.

It was nice to see his family and to see all of the business people who I have gotten to know via my friend. I suppose as time passes I'll fall back into the routine of taking things and people for granted, but at least for now I'm very aware of the importance of friends and family, and how much I need to treat people kindly. If I can keep that going, something comes out of the loss.

Now it's back to the office today. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other one...

Today is the Valley High homecoming parade, and Dan will be taking Heather to the dance Saturday. So, back to living.

Hey Joe

I'm so sorry that your friend died! Sudden deaths always bring us up short. My daughter-in-law's father died the same way at Thanksgiving last year. It is quite painful for those left behind. Hang in there!

Retta, thanks. He was an avid runner, and was jogging when stricken on his daily lunchtime run. Somebody was right there to call 911, but it was already too late.

Maybe I'll get a cardiac evaluation...
