Blizzard!

The big blizzard roared through yesterday. It was so bad that they announced that the schools would be closed today by 9:00 last night. The opening of the Wizard of Oz, the church youth dinner drama, was cancelled. Tonight's showing is up in the air as of now. We don't know if the Hoover High School Jazz Festival set for tomorrow is on or not. I hope they the Wizard is on tonight; I have to see Dan as Uncle Henry.

We do know that there's a lot of snow by Bobby's school. Too bad you can't see the 30 mph howling winds in the picture:

It makes for good business at the bird feeder:

I'm pondering whether to head to the office. I'm coming down with a sore throat, and there I would close my door and be crabby by myself without bothering people here or there. But if I have a sore throat, should I be out at all? Bah. Humbug.

I heard that the interstate was closed between Des Moines and Omaha. That's an awful lot of road to be closed. Was this true?

Sore throat or no, you shouldn't go out if it isn't safe to drive. Remember it's the other knuckleheads ya gotta watch out for.

I stayed in. Yep, until today I-80 was closed from West Des Moines to Nebraska. They were parking the tractor-trailers at Jordan Creek Mall until the road reopened. For awhile I-35, the north-south road, was closed from just north of Des Moines to Minnesota.

In a strange fluke of timing, I got some bug yesterday. I have been mostly sleeping since. Finally this afternoon I'm starting to feel a bit better. I hate losing two days of work this time of year, but what can you do?
