Time is a healer
Most people don't realize, let alone care, that October 15 is a serious deadline in my business. It is the last day to file extended individual and corporation returns for 2018. No further extensions are available. Do or... file late.
That hasn't made me a better blogger lately. Shame on me.
I should look at the good side. There is a three-year limit on how long the IRS has to find taxpayer mistakes on timely-filed returns. So when the clock ticks from 11:59:59 Tuesday night to 12:00:00 Wednesday morning, my 2015 mistakes are forgiven.* Something to celebrate.
* I know, there is a six-year limit on "substantial" understatements, if you want to be pedantic about it. That means I can celebrate the passing of 2012, smart guy.
