Goodbye, Knute
Knute Jefson died this week. He lived across the street from us from before I was born until he died, and we grew up playing with the Jefson kids. He was an artillery spotter in the Philippines under MacArthur during the war, and he worked in the Post Office in Gurnee until retirement. I remember him saying "Atta boy, Joey!" when I registered for the draft when I was 18. Now Dan is 18, and he will register online. I'll bet the computer won't say "atta boy, Danny!"

Our prayers go out to Brush, Todd, Mary, Mark and Rob.

Only in the midwest are people still named Knute. Remember Knute Rockne? I'm sorry that he has passed. It is a shame that there aren't more like him.
