Artists Point
Grand Marais is one of our favorite spots on the North Shore of Lake Superior. It's the last decent-sized town before you reach the Canadian border, about 50 miles further up the lake (not counting the new Indian casino near the border). It serves as the supply depot for people staying at lake cottages all around the area, and it is the first taste of civilization for campers coming out of the Boundary Waters via the Gunflint Trail.
It has a little harbor for Lake Superior fishing boats, and a little peninsula called Artists Point that is great for hiking and rock climbing. You also frequently see actual artists out there sketching or painting.
And you see strapping young men...

And their lovely mom!

Oh, and I have to add: Go Cubs!
