When the storm is over

 2020 isn't done yet.

I took my birthday off from work this week. Since I'm working at home, that just meant sleeping a bit later, and then having a leisurely breakfast and coffee while reading a neglected book. I thought maybe Rob and I could play a quick nine holes at the local golf course for bad golfers. Then we looked outside, and decided the golf needed to wait.

Several hours later, we emerged from the basement to begin the cleanup from the "Derecho," basically an inland hurricane. We helped the neighborhood remove a tree that fell across the street, removed some branches from the yard, and were thankful that for all of the tree damage, we had no house or car damage.

The sweet corn patch, though.

Well, it wasn't doing well anyway.

The tomatoes ended up more tangled than ever, but remain delicious and reasonably productive.

The beans seem to be plagued by something that turns the leaves yellow and leaves me with skinny little fruit.

The Okra, though, is thriving.

As are the carrots. Green onions are also doing well, but follow-up radish plantings are disappointing, compared to the great first crop.

The cucumbers are about ready, and that's a first for me.

So most of the vegetables are OK, but all of the house and the people in it are, so that's what matters.
