Happy Birthday to Elina, a wonderful young woman who we were privileged to host as an exchange student 2016-2017.
Early on we took her to see the Cubs. It was a terrific game, despite the Cubs losing 3-2 (Arrieta vs. Bumgarner). She seemed a little doubtful about the whole thing, displaying her native good judgment.
One Cubs run was Javier Baez scoring from second on a ground ball to the third basemen. Amazing. And not too many weeks later, she did her homework on the sofa while we watched the Cubs win World Series Game 7. A real trooper.
She made butter...
...stopped to smell the flowers...
... and was gone back to Finland before we knew it.
She will do wonderful things, and it will be fun to watch.
