Old scout, meet new scout

Rob "crossed over" from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts Sunday. The "Blue and Gold Banquet" is always the same day as the Super Bowl, which is a clever way to make sure it doesn't go too long.



It was nice to see Rob advance from Cub Scouts, but it was a little bittersweet, as it is probably the last time we'll see Dan in his scout uniform. The demands of high school and music kept him from ever getting his Eagle project done. He has kept his scout membership up mainly to be there when Rob advanced to boy scouts.

I liked the Cub scout activities, and I'll miss some of that. I won't miss hot summer nights in tents at Camp Mitigwa, though.

Vickie worked very hard to help out with the Pack, and they surprised her with an award for her work over the years. I think she's glad to be done.



In Boy Scouts, the older scouts do the organizing and the grown ups have a diminished role. By agreement, I become the family scouting grown-up now.
