Bloomington Campus

We made it back home after a harrowing trip across the eastern half of the state. High winds were blowing drifts across I 80, but only in spots. That made for spectacular wrecks as vehicles would go from dry road to snow at 60 or 70. While almost all of the wrecks we saw on the way out were right-side-up, many of those we saw Saturday night were on their sides or tops.

Dan seems to think the auditions went ok, but not spectacularly. We won't know for awhile how they really went. I hope this makes him that much more determined to prepare for UNI February 6 and Depaul February 26.

Saturday morning before we left Dan met a former bandmate who goes to Indiana for Coffee, so I walked the campus. It was reassuring to see a committment to higher culture:

They had this funky art installation that I thought might be a TV tower, but apparently isn't. It changes colors.

There was a 19th century cemetery tucked into the middle of the campus. It looks as though the University just grew up around it. It was incongruous, but there was about as much life there as there is anywhere else on campus on a cold Saturday morning.

Now we're home, and it's not quite so cold. It's good to be back.
