Screaming meme-ies
I've never done a "meme" before, but Peggy tagged me, so I'll give it a shot.
"The idea is to list five things in your life now that you would have never thought would be in your life when you were 25."
I moved to Des Moines right shortly before I turned 25, after an awful first year in the real world in St. Louis following graduate school. I was seeing Vickie, but I'm sure she had her doubts. So trying to look at things from my 25-year old perspective...
1. The Boys. Vickie, I think I was expecting her to be in my life, but the likely consequences somehow didn't occur to me.
2. Blogs.
3. Solvency and savings. It was a major financial accomplishment when I could make more than my minimum credit card payment for awhile.
4. Being so domestic. Maybe I figured I'd be Joe the international action accountant or something...
5. A house. That $340 apartment was really a stretch for me. An actual house seemed like a reckless fantasy.
The career thing - anything seemed possible then, from reasonable success to flat failure, so I don't think anything that has happened workwise, including quitting my job to start the firm I'm at now, would have seemed implausible. Having a happy home life.
