Space Derby!

The Cubs Scouts have two annual events that tax my limited craft skills - the Pinewood Derby and the "Space Derby." Each requires the sanding, shaping and painting of wood. The "space derby" vehicle is a propeller-powered unit that "flies" along a fishing line run across a room. This year's version was held Saturday Morning at Fairmeadows.

I tried out a new airbrush setup I got for the model railroad on this year's space derby vehicle, but technical difficulties forced a last minute resort to the spra paint. we decided on a Valley High School Theme. Did it come down to the last minute? Well, the paint job was suspiciously tacky at the race.

But the scouts had fun, so I think I can live with that.
