Awww...

Last night my Sertoma Club went to see the Iowa Stars game. The Stars are the Dallas Stars (formerly the Minnesota North Stars) minor league team. They played the Houston Aeros. Usually a fight breaks out at a hockey game. This game saw something different.

They had some hokey contest where two couples answer questions about each other. The idea is to guess what your girlfriend thinks about different topics (e.g., hockey. After the contest, one couple lingered. And why not? What could be more romantic than center ice at a minor league hockey game intermission? So naturally, he popped the question. Wisely, he still was wearing the hockey helmet they made them put on for the contest.



She said yes!



I'm confident that Vickie would have killed me if I tried a stunt like that. It always seemed to me like a very unwise way to propose, but it worked here. Unless she dumped him as soon as they left the arena. But what girl doesn't dream of being swept off her feet in a hockey barn?



The couple leaves the ice. The imagery... I kept thinking it looked too much like they were being escorted to the penalty box. May they win the marital Stanley Cub.
