Crossing the T in Duluth

Canal Park in Duluth is one of my favorite places. It's perfect for a long relaxing summer weekend. One of the attractions is the old US Steel oreboat William A. Irvin. It is permanently berthed for tours as a museum piece. At 600 feet, it's little compared to the 1000-foot behemoths that go through Duluth now, like the one passing in front of the Irvin in this picture.



This picture was taken from the bridge. It's a museum piece not only of shipping, but of the American machine age. Naturally this means lots of good pictures this week.
