Mom on a bulldozer
While looking for old military pictures of Dad, we came across some other great old family pictures, like this:

This was probably taken in Southern Iowa along the line of the CB&Q Railroad (now BNSF), which runs from Burlington through Osceola to Omaha and beyond. It is the route used by the Amtrak "Zephyr" now. Grandpa's construction company did landscape and grading work for the railroad, back to the days when they used mules instead of Caterpillars. Mom would stay with Grandpa in the summer sometimes.

That's a great photo! Have you showed it to her lately? I wonder what specifics she would recall . . . the dress . . . being on the construction site . . . the machines.
