Technical difficulties

Apologies for the sporadic posting. Our main computer has been getting progressively more obstinate, and Friday night it declined to boot entirely. After hours of diagnosis by Joe failed, I took the laptop and used it to contact Gateway Technical Support. To my pleasant surprise, I found the computer still had two months of warranty. Unfortunately, their tech support was unable to come up with anything, so I had to box it up and ship it to their Dallas repair shop.

The good news: I had it backed up. I have a removable USB hard drive big enough to back up the main computer. I had it set up with Norton Ghost to do daily backups, so everything within 24 hours of the crash appears to be safe and sound.

More bad news arrived yesterday when Vickie peeked into our Robin's nest - the four beautiful blue eggs were gone. She had seen a crow in the vicinity, and that is our suspect. Dan was saddened, but Bobby was crushed and has sworn eternal emnity to crows.

Hope remains, though. A friend of Vickies who knows birds says there's a good chance another family of robins will move in. I hope so.

On a positive note, we're planning this summer's vacation. It will likely be Minnesota-centric, with Dan and I splitting from Vickie and Bobby for four days in the middle. We'll do a few days in the Boundary Waters, while Bobby and Vickie stay in a sensible, civilized place with a roof. Here is a memory of last year's trip to Cape Cod:

Crows suck! Their kind deserve to die. I hope your computer is better soon. Good thing you back up so often! I never back up anything. Henry does that on my behalf, bless him.
