Adventures in home repair
The week before last, while Dan was in the shower, the ceiling in the kitchen began gushing water. Our keen mechanical sense told us that something could be wrong. As it turned out, the pipe inside the wall leading to the showerhead had burst.
The men started repairing the damage yesterday, putting the kitchen out of service and exiling us to the extra bedroom. The work in progress:

The kitchen ceiling. Picture water leaking from the ceiling and that light fixture on, full of orange water pouring out the bottom.

The repairmen say that there apparently had been leakage before. The shower may have been dribbling out of sight for some time.

Bobby inspects.
UPDATE, 4:45 AM: Bah. I have figured out that the alarm clock in the extra room was set an hour ahead. I guess I start today early. I thought the time stamp on this post seemed strange, but I figured it was something with Blogger.

I'm glad that nobody is hurt. Orange water?
Yeah, rust, I think. Or hope.
I should introduce your civilized red squirrels to our rugged midwest reds. We can create a super-squirrel!
